MELandJELMike and Jill Lowery are missionaries with International Ministries in the Democratic Republic of Congo. They work training church leaders in Kikongo at the Pastor's Institute of Kikongo as well as in Kinshasa at the national office of the Baptist Community of Congo.

Mike and Jill have three children who have grown up in Congo: Taylor is at University in the US, Hannah will graduate from high school in June of 2008 and Matthew is in the ninth grade. We are grateful to God to be able to serve Him in Africa.

Way to Go Hannah!

This week Hannah Joy Lowery graduated from The American School of Kinshasa. Her graduating class of 21 students may seem small, but it's the largest graduating class since the pillaging of Kinshasa in 1991 ! Dr. Irene Epp, the Superintendant of TASOK, noted in her speech that this year was the first year in many years that was not interupted by political unrest. We are very thankful to God for answering our prayers and giving Hannah a great senior year.

Congratulations Nate and Tchela !

In Romans chapter 12 verse 15 Paul writes," Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep."

I wrote recently about weeping with those who weep and the way that Congolese people share the load of sorrow to make it easier for people.

This time I'd like to write about rejoicing with those who rejoice. There's been a lot of rejoicing around here recently and I'd like to share a little with you...Let me introduce Mr. and Mrs. Nate Hulley !!!

Sharing Sorrow

My recent trip to Kikongo went very well. It was "revision" week, which is review week before final exams. Classes went very well and the students seemed to be ready for the exams.

However, from the time that I arrived I sensed an unspoken gloom that seemed to be everywhere. When I asked people if everything was OK in the village, I always got a positive answer. But, I soon found out why things looked so gloomy.
